About
At Ohana Care, food safety is part of resident care. Caregivers may prepare, serve, store, reheat, and clean up meals and snacks for residents. Safe food handling helps protect residents from foodborne illness. Older adults are at higher risk for serious illness from food poisoning, so caregivers must use safe food practices every time food is handled. CDC identifies the four basic steps to help prevent food poisoning as Clean, Separate, Cook, and Chill.
